HOW TO JUDGE NATUAL DOWN AND FAKE DOWN?
WHAT IS NATURAL DOWN?
The natural down comes from waterfowls. All down jackets and down bedding must use the waterfowl down as the filling material. Down is the plumage forming the undercoating of waterfowl, consisting of tufts of light fluffy filaments (e.g. barbs) growing out of the cluster core without any quill shaft. Waterfowl down contains down cluster, nestling down, plumule down and damaged down. Waterfowls need down and feathers to keep their body temperature.
WHAT IS FAKE DOWN?
WHAT IS GLUE DOWN?
Glue down is the counterfeit down material that applies glue agent to stick the loose feather fiber, down fiber, land fowl feather with natural down clusters. Glue down appeared to have a similar fill power performance with natural down. To create the glue down, people need to crush the feathers into feathers fibers and use them as ingredients, then mix the feather fiber ingredients with natural down clusters. After mixing, they add in glues to stick the feather fibers with down clusters, then dry it as same as the natural down.
HOW TO DISTINGUISH GLUE DOWN?
Comparing to natural down filling materials, “glue down” has quality issues such as chemical smells, fake fluffiness, easy to leak, and unable to wash. It also has safety issues such as dust and chemical residuals. Using “glue down” as filling materials will significantly affect the healthiness as well as the sleep experience of customers.

WHAT IS CRUSHED FEATHERS
Crushed feathers are the feather fibers crushed and sifted by machines. To lower the cost, people mixed the crushed feathers with down clusters. Using crushed feathers as filling materials will reduce the insulation performance and downproof performance of the finished products.

WHAT IS DOWN ALTERNATIVE
Down alternative is a kind of ultrafine polyester fiber with small density and silicon oil cover, this kind of polyester fiber has smooth hand feel but easy to twine with each other. It is 100% polyester material and it has no relation with natural down.

WHAT IS FLYING VELVET
Flying velvet "is not real down, but refers to fine single filaments that fall off from broken or inferior feather stems, or broken filaments formed by processing crushed feathers (hair pieces).
The source of "flying velvet" is the leftover material separated from low value feathers through rough crushing and sorting during the processing of duck feathers and goose feathers.
The main hazards and characteristics of "flying velvet":
1. No fluffiness or warmth: Feisi is a flat shredded silk that cannot form a three-dimensional space that locks in air like down petals. The quilt or clothes filled with it may appear fluffy at first, but when pressed, they become flat and quickly clump together, making them not warm at all.
2. Easy to drill out (running hair): Because it is a fine short thread, it is easy to drill out from the gaps in the fabric, causing it to be everywhere in the house.
3. Odor and easy to breed bacteria: If it comes from low-quality feathers that have not been strictly disinfected and cleaned, it will have a fishy odor and may become an allergen, causing consumers who use it to contract diseases.
